At the 6th grade level I found great success using my progress monitoring with 3 trials. For progress monitoring I had to record the first trial results, but for the students we would look at growth through the three trials. They could see the goals wcpm and see how much closer they got on their second or third trial. Their scores did go up - even on that first trial. They felt empowered. Sue
