I've now got TortoiseGit working on Windows 32. I'm sure 64 bit Windows support will eventually follow, e.g. when Windows 64 becomes the prevalent desktop of choice for vendors.
It has been my attitude that until these Windows explorer plugins work properly, there isn't a whole lot of point us changing the main source control system (TortoiseHG has the same problems with Windows 64, I believe). But for now I can do very basic stuff in Windows with GIT. There seems to be some issue with line endings. It changes the line endings on two files to Windows line endings, considers that the files are now altered, and the only way I can get it to shut up is commit and push the changes. But that means whatever repo I push to then has windows line endings on two files which should have linux line endings. So that appears to be a bug. However given the stage they are up to with implementation, it doesn't surprise me that such bugs exist. With some difficulties such as this, I can now work with git and push changes to svn if I want.
