You coulda took the bus, Joe, and saved yourself a bucket of money. The place where local transit really shines is in and out of the loop and to the city limits. Since they've returned what used to be called the "printer's runs" (from the years of hot type) at two and three a.m. there's much less chance of winding up taking an expensive cab home.

List,

I am not a fan of Block E! In my point of view it was a bad development deal that cost taxpayers -- that had higher priorities -- far too much money, took too much risk, and ultimately resulted in a fairly ugly suburban development that feels like an empty circus inside.

That being said it was built if it fails we are all going to be paying through the nose so - my friends and I have made a commitment to visit there when the alternative is going to the suburbs.

So when do we end up there? To see first run Hollywood movies.

Yes it is annoying in some ways. Battling traffic down town, parking, paying higher then average ticket prices. Fortunately you can get a rebate on your parking from the movie theater - though if you go for a small walk, stroll or get a drink downtown after the movie the voucher wont cover the entire cost. It is also extremely annoying that the Movie Theater charges a significant premium to purchase advance tickets on the phone, and makes it nearly impossible to purchase tickets online.

Each time we are there we see lots of Minneapolis City official types supporting the development as well. Last night we saw Deputy Mayor Fey, Council President Ostrow, and even the editor of the Skyway News, Southwest Journal and our favorite issue list.

Afterwards we decided to stay downtown and shoot pool at the Gameworks. Sure the drinks were too expensive, and we had to pay for parking - but the pool tables were open, there wasn't cigarette smoke in the air. Mostly because it was 2/3 empty on a Friday night.

All in all we felt good about helping in our own small way to chip away at the huge debt the city incurred building the monstrosity.
