As someone who also feels that the development is
unecessarily ugly and opposed the extreme subsidy, I
have to say that as an autofree resident of the Loring
Park neighborhood, I have enjoyed having access to the
theater for first run Hollywood Movies, and even the
closer convenience of Border Books with it's later
hours than others downtown(though I still go out of my
way to go to independent bookstores for the majority
of my book purchases).

Matinee tickets(before 6pm) are only $4.00 which I
thought was a real bargain when I treated many of my
visiting relatives to a 5:45 pm showing of The Two
Towers. We went to Hard Rock Cafe before hand and
spent some time in Game Works following doing a little
bowling.

I also have seen two other movies there with freinds
on a lark. Having a theater only 8 blocks away seems
a luxury when seeing a Hollywood first run movie
outside of the selection available at the
Lagoon/Uptown or St. Anthony Main meant the more
complicated prospect of bussing to the 'burbs.
