Roger, check this link out.  It may throw some more insight.

Since tcp/ip is involved i would assume a sdr=>rcvr channel is involved here and not Svrconn as there are 2 qmgrs in picture.  Try stopping and restarting the channel.  By the way, is the put being done to a remote queue???  Is the message staying on the TQ??? Is the message way too big???

Cheers

Subject: MQPUT generates AMQ9208 error

All:

A user has report a very strange error using MQ Visual Edit.  They have many queue managers but it only happens with 1 particular queue manager (WMQ = v5.2   AIX = v5.1).

Note: MQ Visual Edit uses MA88 dated: July 25, 2002.

They can Connect, Open, Get (browse), Close and Disconnect with MQ Visual Edit without any problems.  But when they try to do Connect, Open, Put, Close and Disconnect the following is written to the log:

====================================
07/15/03  13:21:44
AMQ9208: Error on receive from host 192.10.10.10.

EXPLANATION:
An error occurred receiving data from 192.10.10.10 over TCP/IP. This may be
due to a communications failure.

ACTION:
The return code from the TCP/IP (read) call was 73 (X'49'). Record these > >values
and tell the systems administrator.
====================================

The weird part is that MQ Visual Edit does NOT get any errors.  The completion code & reason code is zero for all calls (Connect, Open, Put, Close and Disconnect).  And the message is NOT written to the queue.

Since my program can read (MQGET) messages,  what would cause the listener to have problems on a MQPUT?

Anybody got any ideas?  Attention Hursley - could this be caused by a missing ptf or service pac?

Thanks
