Maksim, First of all, thank you for the long letter! It was good of you to share the findings of your research into this matter. The screenshot looks like the right basic idea. I wouldn't expect to see spin boxes on both the instrument line and the staff line--just one or the other. I would also expect it to eventually assign port and channel numbers sequentially (rather than 3s all the way down), but I assume you were just doing a quick mockup/prototype.
