I agree the wiki link is non-obvious, and I do thank you, Sergio for your
page, which was helpful.
I had a slightly different problem from Chad, but I was following those
instructions, for some unknown reason binutils install on my system didn't
quite finish the job, and then gcc configure didn't figure things out
correctly.
As I said, I think this may be because of the crud left behind from
previous installs of msp430 tools. I don't understand why it happened, as
I've never seen this problem before (and I've built/installed cross-gcc
many, many times.)
