But if you use the hardware of other platforms, it's not MSX anymore!
If you want to use inexpensive PC hardware, make a PCI-MSX
bridge/interface-board...
But then again, I don't want PC hardware in my MSX! Nobody wants
nonstandardized shit like in the PC, where everything hangs together by a
huge amount of software-drivers that only slow down and are a source for bugs.
>But let's not focus on the details!
Where would you like to focus on then?!
I have to admit, when I first heard of MSX-emulators I thought it would be
cool if an MSX programming running in the emulator would be able to use the
power of the PC CPU for its own good, kinda like with Gameboy.
Super-Gameboy cartridges can transfer a piece of program to the CPU of the
SNES and let it run in parallel.
But when I think about it now, I see a few points:
1. a PC can't even fully emulate an MSX-1 correctly yet.
2. it wouldn't be MSX and would only lead to its destruction, because if
there's software that'll only run on emulators (or only run WELL on
emulators) there's hardly reason to keep your REAL MSX any longer...
>>Seriously, what's the point of putting _PC_ 3D support into an MSX

>It's just as stupid as the V9990...
What's stupid about the V9990?! Besides it being a little expensive, it's a
great thing. I own a Gfx9000 (first series) myself and although I haven't
tried programming it yet, I will soon...
I'm even considering upgrading it to a Video9000, just for the fun of it!!
Video digitizing/manipulation is still something a PC can't beat a NMS8280
in! (Except for the bad quality of SCREEN 8 compared to PC, but the
Video9000 will fix that)
>>You'll get programs working with this emu only
>
>Just as with the V9990...
But V9990 = MSX! Just like MSX-AUDIO = MSX, MoonSound = MSX, R800 = MSX
>>It's easier to program for PC+Glide/3Dfx directly, then...
>
>But _MSX_ programmers dont want that...!
MSX programmers want to program their MSX, not some program running on a PC
that can imitate some MSX functions!
An emulator for a non-existing computer HAS crossed my mind, but after
thinking about it a little, a good easy-to-work-with library or engine is
much better than an emulator! And with a couple of macros, an intel
suddenly looks a lot more like a Z80 ;)
Let's end this discussion NOW, before some crazy man implements it!
