Meeting Date:
10/19/06 11:00 a.m. EDT
Attendees:
Barry Atkins
Andrew Eberbach
Joel Hawkins
Dan Jemiolo
Balan Subramanian
Topics:
1. Progress on JIRA issues thus far (committed/non-committed).
2. Discuss feasibility of MUSE-129 - SOAP servlet - being
available on OSGi port in 2.1.
3. J2ME support - MUSE-130
a. Difference between Foundation Profile and previous J2ME
build attempts.
b. How much change is reasonable before 2.2 must become
3.0 or a sub-project.
News & Decisions:
1. Joel feels OSGi integration with SOAP servlet (MUSE-129) will
be possible for 2.1 given three weeks of dev time; the servlet will be
uploaded to JIRA ASAP so it can be reviewed before it's in /trunk.
2. Barry will send (has sent) the list of compilation problems
with Muse & J2ME Foundation Profile.
3. Initial thought is to take the missing pieces that are part of
*interfaces* from Apache Harmony and compile them into a separate module.
This module could be used by J2ME users to satisfy Muse's dependencies.
a. Because Harmony is an Apache project, this should be
okay from a legal standpoint, but we will start investigating early.
b. Harmony only has JDK 1.5, which may cause problems when
trying to reuse some utility classes (especially collections).
c. This would be added for 2.2 in 2007. By adding in
pieces from the class library in Harmony we can avoid making interface
changes, which would require a fork or a new major version.
Action Items:
1. Barry will send list of compilation dependencies not found in
Foundation Profile (done).
2. Dan will start discussions with Apache and IBM staff who can
help determine feasibility of reusing code from Harmony for J2ME.
If you have any questions or clarifications about these minutes, please
send them along!
Thanks,
Dan
