I forgot to say that if the release type info is printed on the release
itself, it has greater priority over artist, over label.
Alex, was the sentence something like :
« Then how could a single album revolutionise the music industry in the
universe ? »
If so that means it’s just an album. ;p
No seriously, such confusion coming from official source is certainly really
rare and is to be seen as an exception.

Alex said « Is the only difference [between an EP
and a mini-album] what the artist/label calls it? »
Yes.
It is what {1. the release or 2. the artist or 3. the label} calls it (in
that 1.2.3. order of priority).

Anyway, this RFC would only speak about adding maxi sub-type to albums and
mini sub-type to singles.
Only touching those two existing primary ALBUM and SINGLE types.
This way letting EP as it currently is separate primary type (semantically
nothing close to album nor single — except if it had meant Elbum Pingle or
something) to avoid making this as an endless discuss never attain vain RFC.

Trying at least,
Tristan.
