Nope, and that shouldn't have an effect when e'x'iting anyway, as I
understand it.
I saved off a message to /tmp/goo to give me a starting point, made sure
that $MAIL was left with five 'N'ew messages, fired off
mutt -f /tmp/goo
to check and set nomark_old (mark_old was set), then 'c'hanged to
{zero}INBOX (where "zero" is our machine name) and gave my password,
got the index of 5 messages, immediately hit 'x' to exit, and then
checked $MAIL and found five old messages and our friend the "do not
delete" message.
