At this point I am going to call Hauppauge tech support. After several more
tests, I firmly believe that this unit is just defective. My last test
involved a cross-over cable directly tied to my PC running the Hauppauge
application (eliminating all network variables). Since the unit shipped
with the latest version remote, the web indicates that pressing the green
button while viewing video will bring up video status, it also mentions
support for the newer remote in 3.2.24125b. Well, the green button on my
remote does not work which leads me to believe that the software resident in
the unit is for the older style remote and this unit just will not load any
new software.

I doubt Hauppauge tech support would help me get mvpmc running, but they
certainly can help me get their software running. I suspect once this
works, the mvpmc will work without a hitch.

If Hauppauge tech support comes out with something software related that
fixes this I will post it here to help others out that may have a similar
problem (perhaps there is some other way to reset everything and get this
thing back to sanity).

Thanks to everyone that helped me along the way. Hopefully I will be in
MythTV / mvpmc bliss soon.

Frank

Subject: Re: [Mvpmc-users] Getting an H3 to work with mvpmc and MythTV

Hai,

I've two H3 working properly with version 0.31. (the server is on SUSE 10
version)

I've followed this how-to
http://mvpmc.wikispaces.com/H2+Linux+Boot+-+NEW
Important: mvprelay and the tftp port is 16869 (and of course any firewall
setting)

Tip: first start it without the cfg file. (just make it boot)

Good luck,

Tim
