Thank you for the response Jamin. This information is interesting and also somewhat troubling. I wonder if the H3 actually stores the "version" and dongle.bin information someplace in non-volatile flash that will not clear with a power cycle. If so, reverting back to a "prior" functional dongle.bin could be near impossible. I wonder if this has anything to do with why I cannot load different versions of the dongle.bin in either GB-PVR or the Hauppauge software. At this point being curious as well as frustrated I broke my MVP apart. The flash memory chip is a ST M29W320DT chip (spec can be found here http://www.datasheet4u.com/html/M/2/9/M29W320DT_STMicroelectronics.pdf.html) . It is a 32 Mbit non-volatile flash memory chip. Wonder what chip is used in the H1 and H2 units? While I do not have an older box, I get the feeling that the older units probably had some form of volatile flash memory in light of the "magic" timeout duration to reboot I keep reading about. Not sure about the H1/H2 units though. What I cannot understand is the fact that I never get a tftp request from the MediaMVP in Linux. I even downloaded Knoppix to boot up on another one of my PCs and tested the tftp ports on the server, which work correctly and I can clearly see the tftp request in the log file. This one item has me puzzled and simply going crazy right now. I guess I will check my DHCP configuration again (lost count of the number of times I have starred at that). ;) Frank ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
