Perhaps the network cable was also touched by the kids? It might be that
you simply don't have a network connection anymore, because as you write
in your other mails your DHCP server is working correctly. Perhaps the
kids removed more then just the power from the box  :)

The power was taken from the box by one of the kids. And I tried the
method where dongle.bin is served from a Linux machine described on
the
Wiki. However I don't think the latter has any influence since
dongle.bin will not be served before an ip-number is assigend.
