I would just expect to keep the same aspect ratio, but zoom in as much as
possible.  Anyway, I'll try the renaming but hope to see some other solution
some day.

As a side question to the topic of renaming, this might be an easier fix, but
can an enhamcement be made to list the types of files to pass to vlc.  Looks
like only  avi, I think.  That way I could tell mvpmc to use vlc for mpeg files
but native support for mpg files.

Also, I see there is an option to use mplayer, but it only says it for extra
audio types.  Can't it be used to play other video types vlc can't support?
