Any particular reason why you chose to use VLC? Isn't it layered on top 
of the same libraries used by some of the more traditional transcoding 
tools?

Is it an old or obscure card?

Your posting was about problems you were having selecting specific audio 
streams from an MPEG-TS. Did you try other transcoding tools?

I'm playing with an old analog card that has no MPEG encoder hardware. 
If I get it working with Myth, it'll need everything transcoded (as Myth 
doesn't have an MPEG2 software encoder), so I'll be looking into this 
and I can post a follow-up with the info on how it is done.
