Follow-up Comment #10, bug #20068 (project mypaint):
First, the bad news: it's still possible to hang the application with the
steps in the original report.
The good news is that it's harder to do so, apparently requiring faster
interaction than before. It's only happening now if the time between clicking
the subwindow and then panning is ~1 second or less.
Output right before the hang is as follows:
