I never use pre-built binaries. I compiled it myself with gcc 2.95.4. So,
that should not be a problem.

I do not have the glibc problem; and I have indeed been reading about it
(but basically ignored it, as it does not affect me). But the extra high CPU
load issue is new to me, and a bit worrysome. Or is it all related?

Sorry if I sounded a bit panicky. But processes that grab exorbitant amounts
of CPU cycles are really a bad dream; and if MySQL starts doing it, it
becomes a nightmare. :) The mysqld daemon is pretty much the engine of my
entire server now. So, it really needs to remain stable.
