I' am relatively new to MySQL and I 'am having a problem with starting the ./mysql program I always get the mysql.sock error. I know this mysql.sock file is used when the local machine is the mysql server. Likewise I can't start mysql.server or mysqld. I' am trying to start it as root. I know this is not a good practice. The first think I have to do is (./mysql -u (User) password). This is what allows me to create a user to run mysqld? Correct?
