Hi Maciej, I don't know much about Interbase, but MySQL is for some cases a very good choice! Some database engineers would say MySQL isn't a database because it has no transactions by know (in a stable version). But think about, if you really need this!!! In versions 4.x (coming soon in a stable version) transactions, subselects etc. would be available!
We use MySQL because of its speed and the costs are very low! Have a look on http://www.w3research.com ! The charts are rendered in realtime by a roxen server in the data comes out of MySQL.
