Michelle,$if they lost the nail, and it had been gone for some time, there is usually no fungus there. It is just hard skin. If you feel that it is, then soak your brush in pure acetone for a few minutes. Acetone WILL remove any "cooties.". One thing to remember is that it is only the product that is touching the nail-not the brush. If you are that concerned, then string the gel on and buff it into shape when it is cured. I usually use acrylic to sculpt out my clients' toes. Again, clean the brush with acetone. If you use a nylon brush, you do not have to worry about "things" creeping into it.
