Katherine,

Do they still offer Tammy Taylor classes very often up there? We have a class
in Springfield once every 2-3 years. I would love to take another class on
sculptured pink and white.

Great advice Katherine, think about it this way...when you do a free or
discounted service it is free education. Education is expensive. You can watch
videos and go to classes which are great and very important. But you will have
to practice what you learned over and over. Finally your knowlege that you have
learned start connecting with your hands. And you will get that Aww moment. I
love those moments. Small baby steps is what it takes. I hope your boss gives
you the time you need but if it doesn't get better for you I am sure there
are other salons to work in. Not everybody is good at being a boss.

Well, that depends on the owner of the salon or on what you are willing and/or
able to do.

What I did is offer 2 full sets for the price of one. The first person would
come in and pay full price for her full set, then I would give her a gift
certificate for the second full set. She can give this to her friend or family
member and collect half the price from them or keep it and use it for herself
in
a few months.

I then gave a hand full of flyers advertising the 2 for 1 deal to the teen age
girl who lived next door to me for her to take to school and pass out. The girl
next door got a free full set for passing out the fliers. Girls could see my
work on her hands and I had no problem selling the deals. I was booked for 2
weeks solid with full sets. I went home HURTING from head to toe with my hands
bleeding from hitting them with the nail file all day. I went back to work the
next day after a hot bath with bandaids on my fingers and did more full sets
all
day. At the end of 2 weeks I had my time consistently down to 1 and a half
hours
( this was after the first TT class ) and I no longer had my fingers bleeding
or
the clients fingers bleeding.

I also no longer needed the cheat sheet. I can do nails in my sleep, I think
that have a time or two. :-)

To keep clients coming back, offer a buy 5 get $5 off. The client gets $5 off
on
her 5th fill with you.

Also, refer 5 clients and get a FREE fill. Give each client 5 of your business
cards with the clients name written on the back and either the 2 for 1 deal or
$5 off a full set ( what ever offer you want to make ) printed on the back of
the card or you can get a stamp made at an office supply that has the deal on
it
to stamp as many cards as you want. Then when the new client calls asking for
you, the deal is with you only, you ask how she heard about you and then send a
thank you note with a gift certificate to the referring for a free fill.

Anyone else have promo ideas?

But what do I tell clients when I need to practice on them. Coz I don't think
they'll stay when I'm just keep on practice on them.
