Mindset. The past few decades have been training us to value fast, convenient and cheap forgoing quality. We have become a fast food disposable world and now that training has become ingrained habits or for the latest generation it is all they know. They know no better. We either roll with it or retrain the consumers to expect more, demand more, value more and consequently pay more.
