What's so bad (besides working effort) to try, fail or succeed?

Time needed to get this done, which one could (better?) invest in
polishing the things we have already.
I believe this is the main reason (and, this is a good reason indeed).

At the moment this Tcl/C marriage begins to itch us too much I will
have to do something about (an alternative).
