There are lots of stories about getting similar Neoteks for cheap or
even free. I purchased mine for a good price, but after countless
hours of research and sourcing parts I have at least $5-6k in the
thing- not to mention the down time. If someone can pick up a fully
functioning desk without the months or years of hassle there is
definite value there.
Either way, there is much more than $6k of functionality and great
sound in that desk, provided it is in fully working order.
Good luck with the sale-

Subject: RE: NEOTEK: Console for sale
Well to offer my input on the $value of a Neotek I own two series 1
consoles. They are both modular with the molex pins.
The first was a 24 channel 4 buss on a stand, short loaded to 16
channels,
all input strips 1E. P&G faders, No patch-bay all 1/4" and XLR on
the back.
It was in 99% working order. It was made in 1987 for CBS Chicago I
believe.
I purchased it from Mike at Sytek refurbished for $4000. I bought it
in
2004. According to Mike this was one of the last Series 1 consoles
made.
The second one was a 16 channel 8 buss table top short loaded to 12
channels
all inputs had 3 band eqs. Alps faders, Not patch-bay all 1/4" and
XLR on
the back I purchased it in 90% working order for $1400. It had lived
in a
community college in Atlanta and was built in 1985. I bought it in
2005.
I feel that I got pretty good deal on both of these consoles but
clearly the
difference in price was a lot.
The other issue that has a big effect on price is location and
shipping
costs. That is always a consideration for these things.
Sorry for the long post just thought I could give a little insight
from my
prospective.
Take care,
Jared

Greetings,
Marc and group,
Well, perhaps I was out of line. Marc, a better idea may have been
to ask
for a consensus to assist in setting your price. This is just an
issue that
annoys me back from the rec.audio.pro days. One guy would list
something
for sale and then there would be 50 opinions on why he should have
asked
less; some times being unnecessarily demeaning about it. I just
don't want
to see our list descend to that.
My apologies if I was too harsh!
Thanks!
Regards, Jim

Gentleman, I feel that the current discussion regarding a members
console for sale is rude and unprofessional. If you feel he is
asking
too much, too little or whatever else, please refrain from
discussing
this on the list. If you must, take it to private email. It's
between
the seller and whatever potential buyer to work out any details.
Thanks!

Jim, I don't object to hearing informed opinions about the value
of a
particular piece of equipment.
It is actually very helpful for me to know what the market is like
and I
appreciate the comments.
