"Looks the same" is a dangerous assumption.
I suggested copying the file to another system, in case a
non-printing character had crept in, or something similar.

That's what is *meant* to be included in the agent, yes.
I was suggesting you checked what was *actually* included
in the agent - just in case the two were different.

It might also be worth starting with a default build - make sure
that behaves as expected.   Then start pruning the configuration
one chunk at a time, until you either get down to the desired
fighting weight - or else you locate the source of the problem.
