Hi Ana and others, I think the format for Netbehaviour is what it should be. empyre as you know has a lot of politics associated with it; it's clearly top-down and serves a specific purpose, topics that are moderator-chosen or moderator-approved. It's not open discussion. The hardest thing for moderators to accept and/or understand, I think, is that the best moderation is no moderation at all, unless someone is deliberately trolling or otherwise curtailing discussion. And when a list is going well, like everyday conversation, it will go in directions that moderators or some members don't approve of, feel uncomfortable, or bored with, and so forth. In other words it, and the participants, have lives of their own. Personally, I want to be and live in these sorts of open spaces, where every third post isn't an advertisement, and where anyone who wants to can speak up, can share, can discuss. A commons is a common, it's common, it's every day, it's commonality, it's community, it's open communication, it might even be compassionate. And to conclude, I can't, absolutely can't, imagine a discussion like this taking place in any other online format. "Updating" to me feels more than problematic - even the archives are easily accessible...
