Dear NetMeeting geniuses (geni?),
I have a maddening problem. I got a PC camera and NetMeeting mostly to
communicate with my mother and family in another state. Mine has been
working fine. I'v placed calls by way of the various directories with no
problem. But when I hook up with mom (via my IP address), we get audio and
video both ways for about 30 sec and then all freezes and her computer
crashes and re-boots. Mine doesn't. I just lose the call obviously. Does
this sound like a camera, NetMeeting or server issue? She has the same
camera I have (Intel PC PRO), cable modem internet service, and a top of the
line HP computer with more power, etc than mine. When I was home last fall,
I installed her camera and that was a little "funky" but I got up and
running. It was able to accomplish the recording, etc that came on the
camera Create and Share CD. Yesterday from my home base I even talked her
through uninstalling the NetMeeting that came with the camera and installing
the patch from the Microsoft site (not bad for a 70 year old neophyte).
Same crash!
Any thoughts? I haven't contacted her provider to see if there is a
firewall or router issue. But if there is, would we even be able to connect
for 30 sec????
