Hi there,
Can you let me have a thorough step-by-step instruction of what you've
done. I've tried with the best of my knowledge, and all I've been able
to do was to fail.
Please give me a hand.

Thanks in advance.

I got windowmaker to run by running a command called wmaker.inst then
startx. Then I can switch back to kde by startx kde
In window maker you can switch to Afterstep so I haven't tried to
modify the startx to get into afterstep.

hope that helps a little.
