Also, what video card is being used? What happens when you attempt an install in text mode? It would seem that if the problem continues across multiple distros, then hardware would be the first place I would start looking. Try a different video card. Also, you may want to look into the possibility of a bad install CD, I had a similar problem installing MDK 8.2, and then burned another copy and it worked flawless... a lot of research, time and effort was wasted on that one. (unlikely that this is the case since redhat does the same thing, but worth a shot.)
