Nope. Right on the money! :-) Linux keeps track of how many times
it's been shut down and restarted and after so many times it runs
it's version of "checkdisk" on the file system. :-)

Dunno... I never experienced it either. 'Course I'm using an older
IDE hard drive (850 megs for boot, etc) and an 8+ gig SCSI, so that
combo of "older" hardware may not be susceptible...
