Ok I found a fast graphical interface for slocate. In fact I found three :-
xlocate - I did not find a download site, but it will be out there somewhere. klocate2 - Two versions. One for KDE2 and one for KDE3 http://apps.kde.com/rf/2/latest I tried to compile it, but so far without success. kio_locate - A kio slave plug in for konqueror. There is an RPM in contrib and in texstar so 'urpmi kio_locate' is all you need to install it. kio slaves allow you to enter a special url line in konqueror. To use kio_locate just type locate://regular_expression in the url line BTW: Another really nice kio slave is kio_fish. It is installed by default in Mandrake 9.1. Just type 'fish://[EMAIL PROTECTED]' in the url line and you will be able to manage the remote file system on any ssh capable computer.
