Steve....I'm using the PCI128 and did not experience what you describe
when installing it on my mdk 6.0 system. Sndconfig did not detect the
card and I had to pick it from a list. After that it played the test
sound and I confirmed I could hear it. That was it. It'ss been working
ever since.
