At some point in the near future I'll be buying a scanner. I have
browsed the last thread on this subject, including
http://www.buzzard.org.uk/jonathan/scanners-usb.html, the TWiKi and the
SANE site. From these it looks like the Epson 1260 photo is a good
choice. The thing is a good part of the work I'm buying this thing for
is proofing B&W 35mm film. The only comment I found about film
scanning, for any scanner, was one of the comments on the 1260, (I
think on the SANE site or link therefrom,) that the Linux support for
film gives poor quality. Is this an obsolete comment? Does anyone on
the list have experience of this scanner with film? Does anyone have
any alternative suggestions or comments?

(I know a higher res scanner would be better, or even a dedicated film
scanner, but I don't want the price to be much over £100, and I can't
justify two devices.)

Thanks,
