At a risk of getting dangerously off topic. Can anyone name their European Member of Parliment? I certainly cannot. The 'Party List' system used in the UK (for Euro elections only) and in many other EU states means you vote for a Party not an individual. The number of seats a Party gets depends on the proportion of votes cast. So the names at the top of the list are *guaranteed* to be elected. Guess who gets to choose the order of the names on the list? Not us for sure. So if a particular MEP is really bad. There is *no way* to get rid of them so long as they appear high up the list. Democracy? I don't think so. derek -- ---------------------------------- www.jennings.homelinux.net http://twiki.mdklinuxfaq.org
