I have installed it on two of my machines and can find no fault with it. I
replaced the LG CDrom with a DVDrom and it went on smooth as silk. I believe
the bittorrent d/l method is good if you can get it past a cable router/modem
and have a fast connection. Anyway I like the look and feel it has detected
all hardware, and yes it is a boring install. No problems so far. I do not
see the LG thing as a Mandrake problem. Talked to a guy today who has
degrees in Math, computer science and computer engineering. He programs
embedded progs in machine language and is a linux fan. He said he has never
heard of something like the LG problem where software could be set to fry
hardware, so it is not something that would be easily or readily recognised.
Mandrake's release probably did the community a service in bringing this to
light. LG will be more carefull about say something is ATAPI compliant when
it is not.
