Hi

I hope that in time I will be able to shift entirely from windows to Linux. I have both political and practical reasons for wanting to do this. However, I am just getting started with Linux and do not have a lot of technical expertise. So my goal is contingent on being able to get everything to work. I have loaded Mandrake on my computer, and with a little help, got my hard drive partitioned nicely. All my windows programs still work, which is what I am using now. I have two problems right now. I can't get the Mandrake program to find my printer, and I can't get connected to my provider and out to the net from the Mandrake program (which is why I am using Windows.) I mention both problems on the chance they may be related. Just sticking with the Internet connection for now, I went to the configure section and clicked on "new connection" under modem connections. After working through the program, providing the info they wanted as well as I could, I clicked the button to test the connection. Got the message "The system doesn't seem to be connected to the Internet. Try to re configure your connection." I may be going about it all wrong, and may not be giving the needed information here to get the help I need. As I said, I don't have a lot of technical expertise. Any help would be much appreciated.
