What kind of computer do you have? Are you using the parallel port for printing? I have a compaq presario celeron (sucks-eron), and i can only get the printer to work if i have acpi turned off. If this turns out to be your problem you will probably see this line in the dmesg (run dmesg at the command prompt) output (though i don't know if you'll see it for other reasons, too): lp: driver loaded but no devices found Here is what i get now (toward the end of the dmesg output) parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778) [PCSPP,TRISTATE] parport0: irq 7 detected parport0: cpp_daisy: aa5500ff(98) parport0: assign_addrs: aa5500ff(98) parport0: Printer, EPSON Stylus COLOR 980 lp0: using parport0 (polling). lp0: console ready Anyway, if acpi turns out to be your problem: Use Mandrake Control Center --> boot --> boot loader then unclick acpi (if it is clicked). And PLEASE let me know. I have not found anyone else with this problem yet... -- Mandrake HowTo's & More: http://twiki.mdklinuxfaq.org
