It sounds like the desktop is larger than the screen resolution.  If you try
moving the mouse pointer to the corners, does the desktop "shifts"?  If this
is the case, you need to figure out a way to get to a higher resolution mode
(check the manual or tons of info on the net) or set the virtual desktop to
the same size as the screen resolution.
