Just a comment (without trying to start a flamewar) -- the key to using a WYSIWYG word processor like Word is to learn to use styles. And, Word will allow two spaces after punctuation ending a sentence (period, question mark, explanation point), a trick that LyX, et.al., cannot manange, AFAIK.
