I am going to give this one more shot.

RH 5.1 uses a pre 2.0 kernel (not sure of exact but 5.2 used the 2.0.36).
In order to install it to a hd connected to an ata33 controller you Will need to 
follow the directions given in my previous post or it will be forever unable to 'see' 
your hd.

In your orig message you stated you had a P3. 
If this in act is the case then the odds are 95% or better that you have an ata66 
controller not ata33.
With ata66 controller you Can Not install RH 5.1.
The earliest version of RH you would be able to use is 6.0 and even with it you would 
need to install using the directions given previously Plus 
you would also need to apply a kernel patch.

My previous recommendation stands.
Get a more recent ver of RH.
Hell, if you will pay the postage I can send you copies of either 7.1 or 7.2
