Sorry for all the e-mails guys, but I found the solution to the segfaults.
remove the ~/.divxPlayer/DivXPlayer.dbf file restart divxPlayer right click on the screen, and go to options. click on the "general" tab and uncheck "Check for new ...." and "Display splash screen..." Close off divxPlayer .. and bob's your uncle, it should work now. At least it does here. I thin that the startup search for a new version is buggering up the whole program.
