I don't think that having different linuxes will be a problem.  There is a 
file /etc/cups/client.conf which I assume will be pretty standard on any 
distro.  All that file contains in mine is
ServerName 192.168.0.30

As long as you can set up the IP of your box with the printer attached you 
should be fine.  OTOH, I use static addressing.  It is probably different if 
you don't, and someone else will have to advise you on that.
