I grepped for 'firm' and nothing came up. It looks like these are
the entries related to the nic:

Aug 22 17:07:28 localhost kernel: prism2usb_init: prism2_usb.o:0.2.1-pre26 Load
ed
Aug 22 17:07:28 localhost kernel: prism2usb_init: dev_info is:prism2_usb Aug 22
17:07:28 localhost kernel: usbcore: registered new driver prism2_usb

When I unplug the nic, then put it back in, it doesn't light up
anymore. It does register in usbview, but messages says:

Aug 22 21:08:52 tecra kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd
and address 3
Aug 22 21:08:52 tecra netplugd[2152]: wlan0: ignoring event
Aug 22 21:08:52 tecra hal.hotplug[5419]: DEVPATH is not set

Once it seems permanently out of commission, I try mcc again,
and the console window reports this in the background:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] log]# Shutting Down WLAN Devices: Shutting Down WLAN Devices:
message=lnxreq_ifstate
  ifstate=disable
  resultcode=success
error reading information on service tmdns: No such file or directory ]

Does any of this provide any useful clues?

Miark
