Also, if you use kde, go to kcontrol > LookNFeel > Behavior and check
'Mounted Removable Medium'. This will put an icon on your desktop
whenever the usb device is mounted.

- Checked 'Mounted Removable Medium' under KDE's Feel and Look and is not showing
- Checked etc/fstab and is not listed
- haldaemon service is running and starting at boot (what is this anyway?)
