There's a big huge 'YET' hanging off the end of *that* sentence.
Whilst I hate to see the US trying to exert political control over
another world-wide resource, the idea of the UN controlling it is not
much more palatable. And heaven forbid that it should fall under the
EU's remit - although it seems that any argument which suggests the US
shouldn't control it, simultaneously suggests that the EU shouldn't
control it either.
And besides, ISTR that the US government has already interfered with
ICANN. Didn't it tell them to change their decision at some point in the
.xxx TLN business?
