Hi,
can you go to a terminal and type, as root:
# service haldaemon start
What does the output say ?
for the record, I have these installed:
dbus-0.92-8.2mdv2007.0
dbus-x11-0.92-8.2mdv2007.0
hal-0.5.7.1-9.1mdv2007.0
libdbus-1_2-0.62-5mdv2007.0
libdbus-1_3-0.92-8.2mdv2007.0
libdbus-1_3-devel-0.92-8.2mdv2007.0
libdbus-glib-1_2-0.71-5mdv2007.0
libdbus-qt-1_1-0.70-1mdv2007.0
libhal1-0.5.7.1-9.1mdv2007.0
perl-Net-DBus-0.33.3-2mdv2007.0
udev-098-6mdv2007.0
udev-doc-098-6mdv2007.0

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no
path and leave a trail. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
When I try that, it comes back and says "failed". There is nothing in the
log files to explain why either. I have every package that you have
installed except:
libdbus-1_2-0.62-5mdv2007.0 - not even listed as installable
udev-doc-098-6mdv2007.0 - which should have no effect
Thanks,
JB
