I can now get the modem working. I had to follow the directions a little closer for the setup from linuxant. ***How can I set up the modem to access the internet with out needing a password? Can I write a script or something to connect and disconnect my wireless, UTP Ethernet, and modem? (all of which finally work! :-)

The one modem I installed with a rpm just told me where to look (hardware, /dev/something) for the modem when it installed, and I configured KPPP to dial up using that. If you are looking to do command line updates on Mandrake, I suggest taking a look at the cool article to do it on the UUG site: http://uug.byu.edu/articles.php?article=63 Course, that was for Mandrake 9.1, you'd have to look for 9.2 sources on the Mandrake site and modify the commands accordingly. Oh, and don't use secsup for any of the servers.
