/boot 128 Mb (sometimes you want a /boot partition, not necessary)
<root>/ 10 Gb If you're going to install OpenOffice, KDE and/or Gnome, and a
decent set of apps, you're going to need way more than 500 Mb.  10 Gb should
be enough.
<swap> 1-2 Gb or double your RAM
/home The Rest Gb
