Depends what you want, but for simplicity I recommend two partitions,
2x RAM for your swap, and the rest / is really all you need.

Personally I have about 6GB for / and the rest for /home and swap. 
The theory is, when I upgrade or install a different distro I don't
format /home and don't lose all my user data.  I'm getting worried
though, I'm down to 1.2 GB in /.
